My First Confession: No Spoons and My Shutterfly Calendar

I just put sugar into my coffee with my fingers. There are no clean spoons in my house right now. Actually, that’s misleading. I have no clean silverware. I soon realized through my foggy brain that I would need to stir the coffee with something, and my fingers weren’t really an option, so I used a serrated bread knife that happened to be around. There. I did it, and now you know.

In order to understand what brought me to this point, I need to explain a little more. Every year I create a Shutterfly calendar with family photos that I then distribute to our relatives for Christmas. It’s much more than a calendar, though. You see, I gave up on getting to those scrapbooks a long time ago. This is the main way that I document our life from the past year, and I really get into it. I include all big events. I include funny and beautiful pictures of daily life. I even include quotes that I’ve collected throughout the year in that pocket planner I’ve mentioned before.

I was up until 4 a.m. for the third night in a row trying to finish by the latest sale deadline, so no coffee was not really an option. I’m not even sure that caffeine works on me at the chemical level anymore, but psychologically seems to be a different story for now.

And in case you’re wondering, I did not finish the calendar by the sale deadline. I have more layouts to tweak until “perfect” and more pictures to find that I realized (at some ungodly hour) I’d missed, so it didn’t happen in time. Guess what, though? They’re having a new sale that, in the end, is exactly the same as the last deal. Now I have two more days to get it done. Yay! Yay?

I still need to do all the daily tasks that make a family happy and healthy like feed and spend time with them. After years of experience, I’ve learned to be cautious about saying that I’m going to finish the calendar before the big deadline. I don’t know if I can, but I refuse to give up hope until 2:55 a.m. Friday morning (they’re in California, and there’s a 3 hour time difference).

So, that’s it for now. I really need to get back to it. The darn thing isn’t going to make itself.
